A Conscious Blend Of Washable Merino Wool, Alpaca And Recycled Nylon
Amble is absolutely perfect for sock knitting, but it is also a great choice for easy to care for sweaters and accessories too. Part of what makes it so special is the blend of fibres used: merino brings softness and bounce, alpaca gives warmth and drape and recycled nylon adds durability. The beautiful colour palette is achieved by dyeing onto two different base shades - a natural ecru and a warm grey created using the natural brown colour of the alpaca fibre.
Both the merino and the alpaca fibre used in this yarn are Easy-Wash treated. Easy-wash is a trademarked name that refers to a process used to make the wool and alpaca fibres in Amble machine washable without shrinking. The Easy-wash method is chlorine-free and AOX-free, making it a better environmental choice for producing machine washable wool than the traditional superwash treatment. You can read more about superwash wool (and its environmental impact) here. The recycled nylon used in Amble comes from leftover industrial waste of processing nylon, thereby diverting this waste from landfills, and using fewer production resources like water and fossil fuels than virgin nylon.
