Join us from 6pm-8pm on Thursday 3rd December to learn the basics of stranded colourwork knitting. This two hour class will cover everything you need to complete beautiful colourwork projects, including:

• holding your yarn

• reading colourwork charts

• managing float tension

• why colour dominance matters

• swatching for colourwork projects

We will be making a two-colour headband, which is a lovely quick project for yourself or for gifting.

This class costs £40 for one two-hour session and Class sizes are small - there will be a maximum of six participants in each class so that everybody can get as much help as they need!

You will need two colours of DK yarn and 3.75mm and 4mm needles (DPNs or 40cm circulars). You can either bring your own materials or purchase them in our shop. You will be asked to cast on and knit the ribbing ahead of the class so that we can focus on the colourwork section, (full details will be shared with you in advance), so please ensure that you give yourself time to do this.

Gilliatt is a woolen spun yarn from De Rerum Natura, made from a blend of white French Mérinos d'Arles and black Portuguese merino.

All the manufacturing stages of this yarn are carried out in a short circuit (France and Portugal for sourcing, Belgium or Italy for washing, France for spinning and dyeing) with a constant desire for traceability and to reduce its impact on the environment.

Made up of three well-twisted strands, it is a round, soft and satisfyingly fluffy yarn which is perfect for about everything from simple stockinette to intricate cables. It's also a yarn that easily forgives irregularities, doesn't split and stays securely on the needles, making it an excellent choice for beginners.

Gilliatt is named after the beautiful, stubborn and constructive hero of Victor Hugo's Travailleurs de la mer.

Matiz is an Aran weight 100% wool yarn, produced from the wool of Portuguese native breeds Campaniça and MerinoPreto. This yarn is worsted spun with a pleasant squishy touch that makes it perfect for warm sweaters and cozy cardigans. It is very well suited to textured knitting such as brioche and cables.

Grown, scoured, milled and dyed in Portugal.

Laine 30, Layers, features a beautiful collection of knits to wrap yourself in as the weather starts to cool. Brae is a traditional Fair Isle sweater with a contemporary twist, Pip Colourwork yarn from Baa Ram Ewe. Traditionally, Fair Isle sweaters use no more than two colours per row. Brae is no exception! The classic stranded colourwork features traditional diamonds and zig zags, combined with modern heart motifs that add warmth and personality.

This is a printed pattern.

Each Oak button is individually turned by Tom Dyson in his New Forest workshop using timber sourced from a local supplier.

Each button has a smooth profile, carefully positioned sewing holes and a hand-applied Danish oil finish. The result is a refined wooden button that can complete a handmade garment without overpowering it.

Quick, cool hand wash. Avoid prolonged soaking, harsh detergents and high temperatures.

All sizes have two sewing holes.
