A fabulously soft and squishy blend of alpaca and Highland wool. This 2 ply, aran weight yarn is easy to stitch and great for colour work. Perfect for any sweater, accessory or homeware project.

1. Trail Finder Cowl by Kari-Helene Rane

This practical and warm cowl uses just two balls of &Make Aran, making it the perfect introduction to knitting in the round for new knitters, or a quick and easy project for those with more experience. The minimalist design of bold stripes is easily worked in a combination of knit and purl stitches on every round, and a neat border of garter stitch frames the main body of stripes nicely.

    Construction

    The Trail Finder Cowl is worked seamlessly in the round from one end to the other. Both ends of the cowl are trimmed with a garter stitch border for a neat finish. The main section of the cowl is worked in vertical stipe sections of knit and purl stitches.

2. Warm and Easy Hat by Kate Atherley

An ideal beginners project that uses 1-2 skeins of &Make Aran. Knit in the round from the ribbed cuff to the crown and finished with an optional pompom. Make it in one colour for a classic look, or combine colours for something more individual.

3. Rewind Cardi by Holli Yeoh

A classic, drop shoulder cardigan in stockinette stitch with ribbed borders and pockets on the front. Knitting the Rewind Cardy offers the chance to learn techniques like adding button bands, pockets and buttonholes in a format made for beginners.

    The Fibre Co. &Make Aran (50% Highland wool, 50% alpaca, 150 m (164 yd) per 100 g ball) in shade Mon Ami – 6 (6, 7, 7, 8) (8, 9, 9, 10) balls.

    Construction

    The Rewind Cardy is worked flat as one piece seamlessly from the bottom up to the underarm divide where the front and back are then worked separately. The shoulders are shaped using short rows and joined with a Three Needle Cast-Off. Sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round top down. The ribbed button band edging is picked up and worked back and forth with some increases worked at the front opening to shape the v-neckline. Lastly, two pockets are knit separately and sewn onto the front of the cardigan.
