We are excited to stock this new range of recycled yarn made right here in the UK. iinouiio are a West Yorkshire based company who use traditional wool recycling techniques to produce a beautiful range of reclaimed knitting yarn.
“Recycling our past; creating a future…”
Discarded wool and cashmere garments are sorted by colour before being shredded, carded and spun into yarn. Processes such as scouring and dyeing don’t need to be repeated, which saves water and the subtle tweedy colours are achieved by hand sorting the garments before processing.
Also available as a DK weight yarn.

About iinouiio
iinouiio is an acronym for It Is Never Over Until It Is Over, and is pronounced ‘in-oo-e-o’. The company was founded by John Parkinson who has a rich history in the Shoddy and Mungo industry and uses his knowledge to educate the industry on recycled textiles.
iinouiio specialise in taking post-consumer and manufacturer’s waste and converting it into a range of fibres, yarns and fabrics. They aim to demonstrate and promote responsible textile materials and methods and breathe new life into discarded textiles.
You can hear John Parkinson talking about the work that iinuiio are doing to promote recycling in the textile industry on two episodes of the wonderful Haptic and Hue Podcast: Episode 24: Shoddy The Once & Future King and Episode 43: Cabbage and Mungo: How Recycling Returned to the Tailors of Savile Row.
Why We Love Them
Recycling wool in this way is not a new idea, but rather one that draws on a rich and fascinating history of textile recycling and shoddy production in Yorkshire. We love the way that this traditional process is being used today to produce a sustainable alternative to new wool for knitters.
