Flock at Bus Stop Studios

If you’re a St Leonards local, you might have noticed an exciting new addition to London Road…

Bus Stop is a shop, classroom and gallery space located just a couple of minutes walk from both the railway station and the seafront, on London Road, St Leonards on Sea. The classroom was founded in December 2023 by hand embroidery artist Amy Burt, and the brand new shop opened earlier this month.

Modern Stationary, Haberdashery, Art Supplies…..and Yarn!!!

The shop is stocked with a beautiful (and growing) collection of luxury modern stationary, haberdashery and art supplies as well as a great selection of craft books, sewing kits from Sew Cozy Patterns and greetings cards from local designers Milk + Hustle.

We’re also absolutely delighted that Flock has its very own section at Bus Stop, which we’ve filled with some of our favourite yarns, accessories, knitting kits and books. We’ll be showcasing different yarns here every month or so to keep things interesting and share as many of the brands that we love with you as possible! As ever, if there’s anything that you would like to see here just drop us a line.

Learn to Knit with us at Bus Stop

We’re also really excited to be hosting a range of knitting and mending classes in the Bus Stop Classroom this coming term. If you’re a complete beginner you can come and learn to knit a winter accessories set with us. Over four fortnightly classes, we’ll work through a simple pair of mitts and a hat in the colour of your choice. You’ll learn to cast on, knit, purl, create ribbing, cast off and knit in the round and leave with two fabulous new hand knitted accessories to keep you warm and snuggly this winter. This class runs fortnightly from September 12th and there is a morning and an evening option. Find out about the Beginners Knitting Class.

For the more experienced knitters, we’re running a project based class where you will work on a garment or accessory of your choice with plenty of help and support on hand when you need it. We’ll look at how to choose suitable yarns and projects, how to choose a size and swatch for success, how to read a pattern and specific knitting techniques based on whatever you choose to make. We’ll also look at making up and finishing your garments for the best possible results. This class runs fortnightly from September 19th and there is a morning and an evening option. Find out about the Experienced Knitting Class.

We’re also hosting a one off Woollen Mending Class on Saturday October 12th. Bring along a woollen garment that you would like to mend or embellish with a Woven Darn or a Swiss Darn, or work on one of our samples. I had such a great time last time we ran this mending workshop and I can’t wait to see what everyone brings along this time!
